During this time, many innovative projects were developed such as the mechanical electric meter (the predecessor to prepaid electric meters), that allowed for limited usage. We also ventured into the making of air core reactors for the likes of Transnet and several companies in Australia.

Due to two of the founding members passing on and Mr Nienaber retiring, the company was wound down only to be revitalized and reopened in 2023 by Mr Pieter van der Walt, previously General Manager at one of the leading motor repair companies.

The Niewalt Group consists of two divisions:

Niewalt Engineering Consulting and Niewalt Business Rescue.

Background

In 1982 Mr Sakkie van der Walt and Mr Gustav Nienaber founded “Nienaber & Van der Walt Raadgewende Ingenieurs” in Brooklyn, Pretoria.

In later years, the name was changed to Niewalt Consulting and in addition to the Pretoria head office, branches were established in Johannesburg and Durban. This allowed us to expand our footprint where numerous projects were successfully completed.
